Trade the scroll for your own life.
You reach for Instagram. The phone answers with your own photo and one thing to do right now.

What is Trade the Scroll?
Trade the Scroll is a screen-time app for iPhone and Android that replaces the apps you chose to watch with a wall made of your own photos and one activity suggestion. It needs no account, keeps every log and photo on the device, and costs 44.99 EUR once after a 14-day free trial.
How the wall works
Three moments. Each one is yours, not ours.
You reach
You open a watched app. Instagram, TikTok, whichever ones you picked. The wall fires on the first open of a session, and always inside the hours you flagged as dangerous.
You meet your own life
Instead of the feed: a photo you took three weeks ago, and one question. How long do you have? Five, twenty or sixty minutes.
You take one offer
One activity that fits the time, the hour and the weather. Say yes and the watched app stays quiet for that long. Say no and you get a different offer, not a lecture.
Why it is not another blocker
The wall is your own life
Every screen-time app ships a wall, and every wall wears off in about ten days. This one is built from your photos and the activities you chose.
Never the same twice
The offer changes with the time you have, the hour, the weather and the daylight. It learns what you actually say yes to within days.
Pay once
14 days free, no card. Then 44.99 EUR, one time. No subscription, no renewal to forget, no surprise on the statement.
No social layer
No feed, no leaderboard, no accountability partner, no streak that resets to zero. A training log, never a scoreboard.
Three numbers, all yours
Screen time shows up small, and only against your own past.
Swaps
The wall fired, and you logged something after. This number never goes down.
Days logged
Out of the last 28. A missed day is data, not a reset.
Time reclaimed
Against your own first measured week. Nobody else’s.
The notification promise
Three kinds of notification, all made on this phone. No push token, no server, no badge counts.
Danger window
One nudge when a window you set begins. Off unless you turn it on.
Evening log prompt
One reminder at the time you choose. On Sunday it brings the weekly recap instead.
Wall lifted
One message when four weeks under target lift the wall. Nothing when it comes back.
That is the whole list. It is printed in the app settings too.

Questions
Does Trade the Scroll block the apps?
Not by default. It intercepts the first open of a session with a wall and one offer. Say yes and the app stays quiet for the time you chose. Decline and you get another offer, then you can open the app anyway. Friction, not a cage.
Which apps can I watch?
The ones you pick. The built-in list covers Instagram, TikTok, X, Reddit, Snapchat, Threads, Facebook, Pinterest, Bluesky, Twitch, LinkedIn, Tumblr, BeReal and Lemon8. YouTube, Spotify, messaging and browsers are never suggested, because the app cannot tell good use from bad there.
Why does the iPhone version need a Shortcuts automation?
Apple’s Screen Time shield cannot open another app, so a wall with your photo needs a personal automation that runs when the watched app opens. Onboarding walks you through it, one per app. If you delete it, the shield still stands and one tap brings the wall back.
How much does it cost?
44.99 EUR, once. The first 14 days are free with every feature and no card. There is no subscription and nothing renews.
Where do my photos and logs go?
Nowhere. Logs, photos, moods and your trigger map stay on the phone. If you turn sync on, the app copies them to your own iCloud Drive or Google Drive. The only things that leave the device are your city, sent to Open-Meteo for the weather, and the purchase receipt, sent to RevenueCat.
What happens when I relapse?
No streak resets to zero. A relapse opens three short questions, and the answers adjust your danger windows. A missed day is data.
